The Dareshuri horse is a hidden jewel of the Zagros mountain range in modern day Persia, with roots going back to the Nisean horse of the ancient Persian empires, a several centuries old heritage of keeping the horse herds pure and untouched, and now confirmed by early genetic researchers that it is indeed a distinct breed separate from all other horse breeds of the world.
